Vietnam's First Aluminum Project to Commence Production in Q2 2026

According to Vietnamese news media, Vietnam's first aluminum project, the first phase of the Dak Nong Aluminum Smelter (150,000 mt/year), is set to commence production in Q2 2026, with a total investment of 1.84 trillion Vietnamese dong, 80% of which is financed by MB Bank. Located in the Nhon Hoi Industrial Zone, the project will be constructed in three phases, with a total capacity of 450,000 mt/year, and is expected to contribute approximately $700 million to GDP annually upon completion. Infrastructure and power grid connection have already been completed, and the EPC equipment tender is scheduled to start in April 2025. The government has pledged to address environmental assessment and legal procedures to promote the upgrading of the industry chain.
