On March 28 (Friday), according to an earlier notice, Myanmar's Wa State, a major tin producer, will hold a meeting with investors next week at the Manxiang mining area to discuss the resumption of mining activities in the region. The meeting will take place on April 1 at the Manxiang government office, as per the notice from the Wa State Industrial and Mineral Resources Administration. Wa State spokesperson Nyi Rang confirmed the notice but stated that it is uncertain when mining operations will resume. This meeting marks progress in restarting mining in Wa State, which suspended all mining activities in its controlled areas in August 2023 to protect resources. Myanmar is the world's third-largest tin producer, with Wa State mines accounting for 70% of the country's tin production. As of around 14:37 Beijing time, the SHFE tin 2505 contract rose 1.3% to 283,920 yuan per mt. (Wenhua Comprehensive)
