Beijing (Gasgoo)- On March 26, embodied intelligence technology company TARS announced the completion of a $120 million worth of angel funding round, setting a new record for the highest angel investment in China's embodied AI sector.

The round was jointly led by Lanchi Ventures and Qiming Venture Partners, with participation from eight institutions, including Linear Capital, Hengxu Capital, and Hongtai Aplus, bringing together top industry strategic resources.

As an innovative company with capabilities in the R&D of embodied AI large models, hardware, and integrated mass production, TARS pioneered the Human-Centric embodied data engine, overcoming the bottleneck in real-world data acquisition. It has also developed an integrated spatial perception and decision-making large model, driving large-scale applications of intelligent physical systems.

The newly raised funds will primarily support product R&D, model training optimization, and multi-scenario expansion. The company has achieved three key technological breakthroughs: enhancing embodied data collection through its proprietary data engine, developing a generalizable intelligent system architecture, and establishing a deeply integrated hardware-software mass production system. The team believes these advancements will accelerate the arrival of the "GPT moment" for embodied AI.

Founded in February 2025, TARS focuses on AI-driven physical world innovations and general-purpose robotics, aiming to build a reliable, super-intelligent embodied system. Its founding team comprises experts from Tsinghua University, Huawei, and Baidu, bringing full-stack technical expertise and industrialization experience. TARS' Shanghai headquarters is now operational, with its R&D team rapidly expanding. The company plans to launch its first-generation embodied AI system prototype within the year, targeting applications in smart manufacturing and intelligent logistics.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
