The Indonesia Oman Copper Smelting Project of China Nonferrous Metal Industry's Foreign Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. Successfully Produced the First Batch of Cathode Plates, and the Copper Product Production Line Was Fully Connected. According to the news from China Nonferrous Metal Industry's Foreign Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd., at 14:30 on March 25, 2025, as the mechanical arm of the stripping unit in the electrolysis workshop precisely stripped off high-purity copper cathode plates one by one, the first batch of finished copper cathode plates was successfully stacked and bundled, marking the full connection of the copper product production line of the Indonesia Oman Copper Smelting Project. The detection results showed that the purity of the copper cathode plates reached 99.99%, meeting the LME Grade A standard.

According to China Nonferrous Metal Industry's Foreign Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. (NFC), at 14:30 on March 25, 2025, as the robotic arms of the stripping unit in the electrolysis workshop precisely peeled off high-purity copper cathode plates one by one, the first batch of finished copper cathode plates were successfully stacked and bundled, marking the full commissioning of the copper product production line at the Amman Copper Smelter Project in Indonesia. Test results showed that the purity of the copper cathode plates reached 99.99%, meeting the LME Grade A standard. This not only represents the first batch of qualified smelting products independently produced in Indonesia's history but also holds milestone significance in the country's industrial development.

During the critical phase of the project's trial operation, NFC General Manager Jiang Lei went to the site to take command, leading the project team to work day and night to ensure steady progress in all tasks. The project team achieved several important milestones, including the powering up of the electrolysis workshop on March 17, the feeding of the grinding and flotation workshop on March 19, and the successful production of the first batch of copper cathode plates on March 25. The successful commissioning not only demonstrates NFC's outstanding capabilities in copper smelting technology but also lays a solid foundation for further cooperation with the owner, Amman Group.

At the celebration ceremony, Mr. Naveen, a director of Amman Group, highly praised this significant achievement, stating, "The successful production of the first batch of high-quality copper cathodes is not only a major breakthrough for Amman Group but also a historic step in Indonesia's national industrial development. This achievement is the result of the collective efforts and hard work of the entire project team. I sincerely thank everyone for their dedication and look forward to the ultimate success of the Amman Copper Smelter Project!"

General Manager Jiang Lei once again expressed his gratitude for the trust and support of the owner at the ceremony. He emphasized that NFC always adheres to its original aspirations and responsibilities, carrying out all tasks meticulously around the owner's needs. He looks forward to deepening cooperation in the future and jointly writing a new chapter in the project's development.

Representatives from the owner, the project team, China Nerin Engineering Co., Ltd., NFC 15th Metallurgical Construction Group Co., Ltd., Guizhou Construction Investment Group, Sinohydro Bureau 8, and Daye Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd., along with other relevant construction and trial operation units, attended the celebration ceremony.

Chilean Court Revoked $3.2 Billion Project Permit for Collahuasi Copper Mine
Chile's Second Environmental Court recently revoked the environmental permit for the "Infrastructure and Capacity Enhancement" project at Collahuasi, one of the world's largest copper mines. The project planned to invest over $3.2 billion, with the core objective of building a seawater desalination plant to extend the mine's lifespan. The court ruled that the mining company had failed to adequately consult with affected indigenous communities and that the assessment of environmental impacts on the marine environment was insufficient. The mining company stated that existing water sources could support short-term production and would not immediately affect production.
