Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On March 24, the 46th Bangkok International Motor Show kicked off with GAC Group making three major announcements: the launch of One GAC 2.0, an upgraded version of its global strategy; the official commencement of its "Thailand Action"; and the pre-sale debut of two key models in Thailand—the AION UT global strategic model and the M8 PHEV, a new benchmark for premium new energy MPVs. These developments mark significant strides in GAC Group's global expansion, localized operations, and product innovation.
At the Auto Guangzhou 2024, GAC Group outlined its three-year strategic initiative—"Panyu Action", aimed at transforming the company through brand leadership, product-driven growth, technological innovation, and international market expansion. As part of this initiative, GAC Group aims to enter 100 countries and regions worldwide by 2027, targeting 500,000-vehicle annual exports.
In response, GAC INTERNATIONAL is accelerating its overseas strategy by integrating GAC, AION, and HYPTEC brands to build a unified "Global GAC" brand. The company is focusing on branding, global product deployment, localized production and supply chains, integrated sales and service networks, and diversified ecosystem development.
At this year's Bangkok International Motor Show, GAC INTERNATIONAL introduced One GAC 2.0, its upgraded global strategy anchored in long-term commitment. The initiative is built around one vision, one goal, and one brand image, supported by one localized action plan and five key measures to accelerate international expansion with a more efficient and precise market approach.
● One vision: To be a value creator for a better mobility experience.
● One goal: To establish GAC as a globally influential and trusted automotive brand.
● One brand image: To be recognized as a high-quality, high-tech, and trustworthy mobility partner.
● One localized action plan: Emphasizing local business integration, service, and contribution.
● Five key measures: Implement localization in product development, sales channels, customer service, intelligent manufacturing, and energy & mobility ecosystems to deliver a seamless full-lifecycle user experience.
Thailand is central to GAC Group's Southeast Asia strategy. In 2024, GAC Group exported over 17,000 vehicles to the region, including nearly 10,000 units to Thailand, with retail sales exceeding 7,500 units.
GAC Group's Thailand smart factory is now operational, built on the same technological foundation as its new energy vehicle (NEV) lighthouse factory, ensuring world-class manufacturing quality. Additionally, GAC Group has established 59 sales outlets and 25 charging stations in Thailand. The company has also introduced ES Mobility Services and launched GAC Energy Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd. along with a cutting-edge NEV talent development base, reinforcing Thailand's future workforce for the NEV sector.
At the motor show, GAC Group officially launched its "Thailand Action", reinforcing its commitment to Thailand's automotive industry. By partnering with local partners, GAC aims to enhance the Thai consumer experience through five key measures:
● Product expansion: The AION UT global strategic model and M8 PHEV luxury MPV have officially entered pre-sale, joining GAC Group’s existing lineup in Thailand, which spans sedans, SUVs, and MPVs to meet diverse market demands.
● Sales network growth: By 2025, GAC Group will establish 80 new dealerships across Thailand, offering consumers direct access to its latest innovations.
● Enhanced customer service: GAC Group will accelerate the implementation of its Global Sales Service Standards (GSSW) and enhance digital service capabilities to provide seamless and premium customer support, setting a new benchmark for Chinese automakers expanding overseas.
● Localized production: The Thailand smart factory will continue introducing new models for localized production, with plans to reach near full capacity by the end of 2025.
● Energy & mobility ecosystem: GAC Group plans to build an inter-city 300km fast-charging network around Bangkok with 25 stations and 76 fast chargers by 2025. By 2027, the company aims to establish 200 stations and 1,000 chargers across 100 Thai cities. Additionally, GAC Group will open Thailand's first multi-level EV battery service center in the first half of 2025, offering pack, module, and cell-level maintenance, with a vision to build a regional battery service hub covering Thailand and Southeast Asia.
Looking ahead to 2025, GAC Group will also establish two mobility service centers, deepen its strategic partnership with Grab, and collaborate with some universities and colleges to create Thailand's first international NEV talent development center, supporting the local automotive workforce.
