According to market sources, Southern Peru Copper Corporation (SPCC) of Grupo México has notified that production at its smelting plant has been suspended due to raw material supply issues, with its long-term contract supply for April reduced to zero. Additionally, the smelting plant’s originally scheduled maintenance in June-July will further impact supply during that period. SPCC-Ilo has an annual smelting and refining capacity of approximately 300,000 tons.
