Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On March 25, Chinese smart new energy vehicle (NEV) maker XPENG announced the opening of its first technology brand experience store in Asia, located in the heart of Hong Kong Island. Simultaneously, the company put the right-hand drive XPENG X9 MPV model onto the Hong Kong market at a price of HK$599,900.

XPENG's Vice Chairman and Co-President, Brian Gu, described the new store as a major milestone in the company's expansion into Hong Kong and the global market. "Hong Kong consumers have a strong demand for cutting-edge smart mobility solutions. Through this innovative space, we aim to bring them closer to XPENG's latest breakthroughs in intelligent driving, smart cockpits, AI chips, and humanoid robots. With the launch of the X9, we are not only introducing a smarter mobility experience but also leveraging Hong Kong's status as an international hub to accelerate our global strategy.”

XPENG said its Technology Experience Store in Hong Kong redefines the traditional 4S dealership model, offering an immersive showcase of the brand's most advanced technologies, including humanoid robots, in-house developed Turing chips, and the latest generation of flying cars.

Coinciding with the store's opening, XPENG officially launched the right-hand drive X9, its first all-electric MPV in Hong Kong. The X9's sleek starship-inspired design, rear-wheel steering, modular interior, and three-row independent voice interaction system challenge the traditional perception of bulky MPVs.

Building on its expansion into Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Macao, XPENG also announced that blind pre-orders for the X9 have opened in Indonesia, signaling further acceleration of its global strategy.

At the event, XPENG also revealed that its first-ever ultra-fast charging station outside the Chinese Mainland is now operational in Hong Kong. According to the company's plan, Hong Kong will be home to XPENG's first global supercharging hub in 2025, marking a key step toward an overseas charging network rollout.

XPENG has laid out a two-phase strategy for charging infrastructure development in Hong Kong:

● Partnering with top local operators to establish brand charging stations at Lai Sun Commercial Center in Kowloon and Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, creating a dual-core charging network across the city.

●Accelerating the deployment of ultra-fast charging technology to address Hong Kong's charging challenges. By late 2025, XPENG plans to introduce 360kW superchargers, ushering in a new era of ultra-fast EV charging in the region.

To enhance charging convenience, XPENG is also integrating a city-wide charging map into its in-car system and mobile app, allowing users to locate nearby charging stations in real-time with a simple tap. The initial rollout will cover nearly 2,000 charging piles, with expansion planned over time.

XPENG's charging station launch in Hong Kong not only alleviates range anxiety for local users but also lays the groundwork for further expansion into Europe, Asia, and Australia. By 2025, the company will introduce a global infotainment service platform, offering features such as station discovery, charging reservations, and payment solutions. Additionally, XPENG plans to pilot energy storage solutions, exploring cost-effective and scalable global charging infrastructure.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
