SMM Hydrogen Policy Update: Jiangsu Actively Promotes Full-Chain Development of Hydrogen Production, Storage, Transportation, and Utilization

On March 20, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province issued a notice on several policy measures to accelerate the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development in Jiangsu Province. The notice pointed out: to prospectively lay out future industries such as hydrogen energy, new-type energy storage, zero-carbon and negative-carbon, and synthetic biology, and to support cities like Suzhou and Nanjing in actively striving to create national-level future industry pilot zones. Accelerate the layout of a number of sustainable fuel projects, actively promote the full-chain development of hydrogen energy "production, storage, transportation, and utilization". Vigorously promote renewable energy substitution, strengthen the coupling development of industries such as steel, petrochemicals, chemicals, and building materials with renewable energy, and promote technologies such as electric boilers, electric kilns, and electric heating. Explore green hydrogen refining and hydrogen smelting. Establish and improve the market mechanisms for renewable energy heating, bio-natural gas, and green hydrogen. Accelerate the construction of "Water Transport Jiangsu", build a characteristic multimodal transport and river-sea intermodal transport system, and strive to increase the proportion of railway and waterway transport of bulk goods. Accelerate "transport-energy integration", green transformation of transportation infrastructure such as hub stations, highways, and service areas, and accelerate the construction of infrastructure networks such as charging (battery swapping) stations, hydrogen refueling stations, and shore power. Focus on key directions such as new-type high-efficiency solar cells, all-solid-state batteries, advanced nuclear energy, green hydrogen energy, and new-type energy storage, adopt organizational methods such as "unveiling the list and appointing the leader" and "horse racing", and organize and implement a number of major scientific and technological projects with strategic and market demand. Focus on cutting-edge fields such as hydrogen energy, new-type energy storage, and bio-based alternatives, and lay out a number of concept verification centers and pilot verification platforms.
