According to a report from the Clean Energy Council (CEC), Australia installed nearly 3GW of rooftop solar PV systems in 2024.

According to a report from the Clean Energy Council (CEC), Australia installed nearly 3GW of rooftop solar PV systems in 2024. In the second half of the year, the country added 1.6GW of rooftop solar capacity, bringing the total installed capacity to over 25.5GW by November 2024, marking a significant milestone. New South Wales was the leading state in installed capacity, reaching 952MW, followed by Queensland and Victoria with 800MW and 582MW, respectively.

The number of battery installations for rooftop solar systems in Australia continues to rise, with nearly 186,000 battery units now installed. Over 45,000 new units were added in the second half of 2025, a 55% increase compared to the same period in 2023. In the second half of 2024, 28.4% of rooftop solar installations were equipped with small-scale battery storage systems. The battery attachment rate peaked at a record 36% in October 2024, before dropping to 26% in December, compared to 15% in December 2023. Similar to rooftop solar installation trends, New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland were the top states for battery installations in 2024.

Last year, the CEC called for a national strategy to promote the adoption of rooftop solar and home battery storage. The strategy aims to reduce Australian households' energy bills, potentially saving over AU$22 billion by 2050. According to the CEC's bi-annual Rooftop Solar and Storage Report, rooftop solar contributed 12.4% to Australia's total energy generation in 2024. In December 2024, the average unit capacity reached a record 11.08kW.

China Approves 17.44 GW Power Plan for Qaidam Desert Base, Including Solar, Wind, and Energy Storage Projects
It is understood that the National Energy Administration has officially approved the power source allocation plan for the "Qaidam Desert Base (East Golmud) Base". The planned construction scale of the power source projects at this base is 17.44 million kilowatts, including 10 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power, 5 million kilowatts of wind power, 2.64 million kilowatts of coal-fired power, 0.1 million kilowatts of solar thermal power, and 1.5 million kilowatts (for 4 hours) of electrochemical energy storage. The total investment in the projects is about 86 billion yuan. The new energy will be transmitted to Guangxi through the "Qinghai-Guangxi DC" UHV power transmission project. Currently, significant progress has been made in the preliminary work of the "Qinghai-Guangxi DC" project, w

[SMM PV News] Armenia Hits 1.1 GW Solar Capacity,
Armenia’s cumulative solar capacity has surged to 1.1 GW following the addition of approximately 615 MW in 2025. This rapid expansion has pushed solar's share of electricity generation to around 15%, effectively meeting the country's 2030 target years ahead of schedule. The growth is heavily driven by a net-metering scheme supporting over 50,000 autonomous producers (totaling 650 MW), though the government ended loan subsidies for rooftop solar in July to shift focus toward battery storage.
