Widening Price Spread Between COMEX and LME Copper Impacts Global Trade Flows Amid Trump Tariff Expectations

[SMM Analysis] Since the COMEX price surged in May 2024, the price spread with LME copper has significantly widened, leading to changes in the global trade flow of copper cathode. Entering 2025, due to expectations of Trump's tariffs, global large traders have shipped all deliverable sources to the US, which also reduces the imports of copper cathode that were originally destined for China.
