Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD has strengthened its presence in the Moroccan market with the official launch of the SEAGULL, a compact all-electric hatchback tailored for urban driving, according to a press release BYD issued on its WeChat account on March 16. The new model debuted in Casablanca, marking another milestone in the company's expansion in the region.

"The launch of the SEAGULL is a significant milestone for BYD in Morocco," said Adil Bennami, General Manager of BYD's local partner, Auto Nejma. “Designed specifically for city life, this electric vehicle model seamlessly integrates advanced technology with practical design, reinforcing BYD's commitment to improving everyday mobility through innovation.”

The SEAGULL features a high-strength body structure and offers up to six airbags for enhanced safety. Inside, it comes equipped with a 10.1-inch adaptive rotating touchscreen and an intelligent connectivity system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, allowing for seamless voice control and an enhanced digital driving experience.

The model is available in two versions, both powered by BYD's signature Blade Battery. The two variants offer driving ranges of 230km and 300km, respectively, and support DC fast charging, enabling a 30% to 80% charge in just 30 minutes.

In terms of design, the SEAGULL follows BYD's Ocean Aesthetics styling, with sleek lines and a dynamic, streamlined profile. It comes in three colors—Midnight Black, Sunrise White, and Sprout Green—offering a youthful and expressive look.

Since entering the Moroccan market in July 2023, BYD has introduced six passenger vehicle models, including the BYD HAN, BYD TANG, BYD ATTO 3, BYD SEAL U, BYD SEAL, and now the BYD SEAGULL, gradually building a diverse portfolio of new energy vehicles in the region.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
