On March 11, a reporter learned from the Sinopec News Office that the capacity expansion and renovation project of the hydrogen supply center for fuel cells at Sinopec Guangzhou Petrochemical was officially put into operation recently. The center can produce 15 mt of hydrogen with a purity of 99.999% per day, with an annual capacity of 5,100 mt, making it the largest hydrogen supply center for fuel cells in South China. This significantly enhances the regional hydrogen energy supply capability and supports the rapid development of the hydrogen energy industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
This capacity expansion and renovation project was built based on the Phase I project of the Guangzhou Petrochemical hydrogen supply center for fuel cells. It includes a newly constructed hydrogen purification unit with a capacity of 5,200 standard m³/hour and four hydrogen loading units for hydrogen filling. The annual hydrogen production capacity has increased from 1,500 mt to 5,100 mt, and the produced hydrogen will be continuously supplied to Guangzhou, Foshan, Hong Kong, and other areas.
It is reported that the project uses by-product hydrogen from cracking units and styrene units as raw material. Through pressure swing adsorption and separation processes, it produces high-purity hydrogen with a purity of 99.999%, which can be directly used in fuel cells. The entire project features advantages such as a small footprint and low energy consumption. The production process achieves one-click control and on-demand production.
