On March 11, according to the Key Laboratory of Gas Cylinder Safety Technology of the State Administration for Market Regulation, the 70 MPa (megapascal) hydrogen storage cylinder fire and explosion test for vehicles, based on UN GTR13-II (United Nations Global Technical Regulation No. 13, Phase II) "Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Vehicles," was successfully completed at the Dalian Hydrogen Energy Detection Center. This test, conducted jointly by Dalian Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspection and Testing Research Institute Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Dalian Inspection and Testing Certification Group Co., Ltd. and also part of the Key Laboratory of Gas Cylinder Safety Technology of the State Administration for Market Regulation), Zhejiang University, and Dalian University of Technology, marks the first of its kind internationally.
This innovative achievement fills a gap in the field of international hydrogen energy safety technology. The success of this test not only enhances China's international standing in the hydrogen energy safety technology sector but also provides critical safety assurance for the widespread application of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Furthermore, this achievement will promote the development of the hydrogen energy industry, contributing to China's efforts in optimizing its energy structure and advancing green mobility. Additionally, the data and experience from this test will serve as an important reference for the formulation of global hydrogen energy safety standards.
