Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On March 11, 2025 local time, Geely brand introduced its global-oriented all-electric SUV, the Geely EX5 (namely, the Geely Galaxy E5 in China), to the Australian and New Zealand markets, while launching its new overseas user brand, "GEELY·GO", according to a post on Geely Auto Group's WeChat account.

This expansion marks a significant milestone in Geely Auto Group's global strategy, as the company deepens its presence in right-hand-drive vehicle markets, and strengthens its product and distribution network across five continents.

Australia and New Zealand, known for their strong automotive culture, diverse driving conditions, and discerning consumers, have rapidly embraced electric vehicles. With electric vehicle (EV) adoption surging, local buyers have increasingly high expectations for driving performance, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology, making the region a key testing ground for new energy vehicles (NEVs).

As Geely brand's first global-oriented NEV model, the Geely EX5, riding on the GEA (Global Intelligent Electric Architecture), integrates the Aegis Short Blade Battery technology, the CTB (battery-to-body) structure, and an advanced 11-in-1 intelligent electric drive system, aligning seamlessly with local market demands.

Having already entered Indonesia and Thailand, where it secured over 1,000-unit orders, the Geely EX5’s arrival in Australia and New Zealand not only accelerates Geely's goal of reaching over 20 key global markets, but also reinforces its commitment to the right-hand-drive vehicle segment, further expanding its global influence.

Alongside the launch of the Geely EX5, Geely brand introduced "GEELY·GO," a global community-driven ecosystem designed to connect users across borders and foster an engaged ownership experience.

Currently, Geely brand has operated in over 80 countries and regions, with its overseas sales surpassing 400,000 vehicles in 2024, a 53% year-on-year spike, setting a new record on an annual basis.

The expansion into Australia and New Zealand serves as a strategic breakthrough, reinforcing Geely's comprehensive market coverage across Asia, Europe, Africa, South America, and Oceania. Having established a regional subsidiary in Australia last year, Geely brand has actively integrated local dealerships, suppliers, and strategic partners to respond to market trends with greater agility.

Looking ahead, Geely brand plans to launch six additional vehicle models based on the GEA platform to cover various market segments in Australia and New Zealand. The brand aims to expand its dealership network from the current 24 locations to over 100, further enhancing sales and service coverage in core commercial areas.

Geely Auto Group's CEO Gan Jiayue emphasized that 2024 marks the starting point of Geely's 2030 vision, with plans to further expand into the UK, Brazil, and South Africa in the near future. By the end of 2025, the group aims to add over 300 new sales and service outlets worldwide, bringing its global dealership network to over 1,100 locations.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
