Beijing (Gasgoo)- On March 7, MAEXTRO, the luxury new energy vehicle (NEV) brand co-developed by JAC Group and Huawei, officially inaugurated its Shanghai Design Center, marking a key milestone in the company's global design and innovation strategy, according to JAC Group's announcement.

Shanghai has become a hub for top-tier talent in software development, vehicle design, and integrated development, offering a mature industrial ecosystem, a strong business environment, and access to global technology resources. The MAEXTRO Shanghai Design Center is envisioned as JAC Group's "bridgehead" for engaging world-class design expertise and an "innovation testing ground" under the Yangtze River Delta integration strategy.

By leveraging Shanghai's talent pool and Pudong New Area's supportive policies, the center aims to drive advancements in smart connectivity and NEV design, while serving as a strategic foothold for JAC Group's nationwide and global expansion.

The center will focus on three core areas: connecting global resources and fostering full-chain innovation, exploring intelligent technologies and software-defined mobility, and enhancing dual-city collaboration to strengthen JAC Group's R&D capabilities.

Moving forward, the MAEXTRO Shanghai Design Center will act as the company's spearhead for technological breakthroughs, developing cutting-edge solutions in intelligent driving and vehicle connectivity. It also aims to attract top-tier talent, cultivate a globally competitive R&D team, and create an open ecosystem for cross-industry collaboration, working with universities, tech enterprises, and industry partners to explore new opportunities in the automotive sector.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
