Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On February 28, 2025, BYD, in partnership with Astana Motors, officially entered the Kazakhstani market, with product launch events hosted in Almaty and Astana, according to a post on BYD's WeChat account.
The first models to be rolled out to the local markets are the HAN EV and the SONG PLUS EV & DM-i, marking a significant step in its Central Asian market expansion.
The primary event was held at the BYD Al-Farabi store in Almaty, with parallel launches at the BYD Turan Astana, BYD MyCar Kuldzhinka Almaty, and BYD MyCar Astana stores. All models have been locally adapted to suit Kazakhstan's climate and road conditions, ensuring optimal performance and driving comfort.
The HAN EV, BYD's flagship all-electric sedan, features the company's in-house-developed Blade Battery and CTB (cell-to-body) technology. It delivers 380 kW of power, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, and offers a 565 km WLTP-rated range. The vehicle also supports 120 kW fast charging, allowing the battery to be charged at 80% from 30% in 30 minutes.
The SONG PLUS EV, a pure electric SUV, comes with two range options—505 km and 602 km—and is equipped with an intelligent driver-assistance system and a spacious interior, catering to both urban commuting and long-distance travel. Meanwhile, the SONG PLUS DM-i, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle model, offers 150 km of battery-powered range (NEDC) and a combined range of up to 1,200 km, meeting diverse driving needs.
Kazakhstan, a key hub along the Silk Road, plays a strategic role in Central Asia's transportation network. BYD's market entry underscores its commitment to accelerating the region's transition to green mobility. With this launch, BYD has now expanded into three Central Asian countries, further solidifying its global presence.
