Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On March 3, Li Auto announced that its first all-electric SUV, the Li i8, will officially hit the market in July 2025.

Li Auto's CEO Mr. Li Xiang acknowledged the competitive market landscape but expressed strong confidence in the Li i8's appeal as a six-seater electric SUV. "There will be several new models launched around the same time, and of course, we feel the pressure," he said. "However, in terms of product competitiveness, we have full confidence in the Li i8. Families with two children or multi-generational households looking for a spacious electric SUV should wait for the Li i8—its performance and Li Auto's extensive supercharging network will not disappoint."

According to first teaser video Li Auto released, the Li i8's exterior blends design elements from the MEGA and L-Series models. The front profile is sleek and aerodynamic, resembling a bullet train, while the rear features a full-width LED taillight design similar to the Li L9 and a dual-layer rear spoiler. The vehicle is also expected to come with a two-tone body and a panoramic glass roof.

The video also confirms that the Li i8 will be equipped with LiDAR device, aligning with earlier reports that Li Auto will include LiDAR sensors as a standard feature across all its new models in 2025, spanning both REEVs (range-extended electric vehicle) and BEVs (battery electric vehicles).

According to Li Auto’s product roadmap, the company plans to launch five REEV models, one ultra-flagship model (MEGA), and five BEV models by 2025. In addition to the Li i8, upcoming BEV models including the Li i6, i7, and i9 are set to debut in the near future.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
