Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Jinmao Smart Transportation Technology Co., Ltd. ("Jinmao Smart Transportation") and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. ("CATL") recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Ningde, Fujian, forging their partnership in power batteries, electric vehicle (EV) charging, battery swapping technologies, and battery bank solutions, according to a press release CATL issued on March 4 via its WeChat account.

The collaboration aims to tackle key energy replenishment challenges in the industry, accelerate the upgrade of new energy heavy-duty truck charging and battery swapping infrastructure, and support the transformation of the green freight sector.

As a subsidiary of China Jinmao Holdings Group Limited, Jinmao Smart Transportation has developed the proprietary "Yilu Youdian" battery swapping brand and an integrated vehicle-mounted battery swapping system. Its battery swapping network spans multiple regions, including Jiangsu, Shandong, Sichuan provinces, and Xiong'an New Area. The company also brings extensive expertise in battery banking and energy supply infrastructure for battery swapping.

For CATL, this partnership represents a significant step in expanding its zero-carbon ecosystem. By combining their strengths, the two companies will focus on solving key technological bottlenecks and providing more efficient and convenient energy replenishment solutions for commercial vehicles and heavy machinery. Additionally, they will explore applications of green freight solutions in energy storage and microgrid systems.

Looking ahead, CATL emphasized its commitment to working closely with Jinmao Smart Transportation to drive the adoption of new energy vehicles and renewable power solutions. The partnership aims to advance decarbonization across the industry's supply chain and contribute to the global carbon neutrality goals.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
