Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On March 2, 2025, BYD, in collaboration with DJI, held a launch event in Shenzhen to unveil its intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system, officially named "LING YUAN." With this innovation, BYD becomes the world's first automaker to mass-produce car-borne drones.

The LING YUAN is fully integrated into BYD's vehicle system and will be available across all its brands. The battery-swappable version is designated for the YANGWANG brand, while the fast-charging version will be equipped in BYD's Dynasty and Ocean series, as well as DENZA and FANGCHENGBAO models. The complete fast-charging LING YUAN system is priced at 16,000 yuan.

At the event, BYD put the FANGCHENGBAO BAO 8 Drone Edition, the first vehicle to feature the fast-charging version of the LING YUAN drone, onto the market. The BAO 8 lineup now offers the option to equip the intelligent in-car drone system, with the model's prices ranging from 395,800 yuan to 423,800 yuan.

According to BYD, the name "LING YUAN" symbolizes a fusion of eagle-like vision with agility and intelligence.

Traditionally, capturing stunning travel moments required bulky equipment, often leading to missed opportunities and tedious post-processing. The LING YUAN eliminates these challenges by offering an advanced, seamless, and intelligent drone experience.

BYD's Senior Vice President Yang Dongsheng highlighted the LING YUAN's four key innovations: advanced architecture, hardware, algorithms, and an open ecosystem. The system incorporates a world-first retractable in-car landing pad, along with a vehicle-mounted positioning module, a 4K rooftop camera, and a custom dual-mode controller. It supports dynamic takeoff and landing, one-click return, auto-follow filming, and fast charging. Equipped with 30 shooting templates and intelligent algorithms, the LING YUAN allows users to create professional-quality videos with minimal effort.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
