Green Hydrogen Project Tracking - Zhongtian Hechuang Energy Co., Ltd. Ordos City Uxin Banner Wind and Solar Power Integrated Green Hydrogen Chemical Demonstration Project

I. Project Scale and Investment

  • Total Investment: The total investment in the hydrogen production project of the Uxin Banner Wind and Solar Power Integrated Hydrogen Production Project is 1.69 billion yuan. Additionally, there is a total investment of approximately 11 billion yuan for the Uxin Banner Wind and Solar Power Integrated Hydrogen Production Project and the Green Carbon Reduction and Upgrade Project, which includes the construction of 30,000 mt/year of green hydrogen production capacity.
  • Hydrogen Production Scale: The project is expected to achieve a hydrogen production scale of 30,000 mt/year, with plans to construct 48 electrolyzers of 1,000 Nm³/h capacity, 4 electrolyzers of 2,000 Nm³/h capacity, and hydrogen storage facilities with a capacity of 180,000 Nm³ (including 6 spherical tanks of 1,875 m³ each).

II. Project Progress and Bidding Status

  • Bidding Work: On December 6, 2024, Zhongtian Hechuang Energy Co., Ltd. officially launched the bidding process for the EPC contract of the hydrogen production plant (Section 1) of the Ordos Uxin Banner Wind and Solar Power Integrated Green Hydrogen Chemical Demonstration Project. On December 30, Sinopec Engineering Incorporation was awarded the contract for this section. Additionally, on February 18, 2025, Zhongtian Hechuang Energy Co., Ltd. announced the candidates for the EPC contracts of Section 1 and Section 2 of the hydrogen production plant of the Ordos Uxin Banner Wind and Solar Power Integrated Green Hydrogen Chemical Demonstration Project. The first and second candidates for Section 1 were Sinopec Fifth Construction Co., Ltd. and Sinopec Tenth Construction Co., Ltd., respectively, while the first and second candidates for Section 2 were Sinopec Tenth Construction Co., Ltd. and Sinopec Fourth Construction Co., Ltd., respectively.
  • Start Time: The project is expected to commence in March 2025 and be completed by December 2026. Meanwhile, the Uxin Banner Wind and Solar Power Integrated Project had already commenced on December 18, 2024.

III. Project Technology and Equipment

  • Hydrogen Production Process: The project adopts the water electrolysis hydrogen production process.
  • Main Equipment: The project will include the construction of complete hydrogen production facilities, including electrolyzers and hydrogen storage tanks.

IV. Project Significance and Impact

  • Environmental Benefits: After the project is operational, it is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1.43 million mt annually, equivalent to planting 825,000 trees, contributing to the achievement of the "dual carbon" goals.
  • Economic Benefits: The green hydrogen and green oxygen produced by the project will be transported via pipelines to coal deep processing projects, replacing existing coal-based hydrogen production, promoting the clean and low-carbon transformation of coal chemical products, and generating significant economic benefits.
  • Industry Promotion: The implementation of the project will promote the development of the hydrogen energy industry, drive the extension and improvement of related industry chains, and form a hydrogen energy industry cluster.
