Green Hydrogen Project Tracking - Guoneng Ningdong Hybrid Hydrogen Production Project

I. Project Overview

The Guoneng Ningdong Hybrid Hydrogen Production Project is located in the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Base in Ningxia. It is jointly developed and constructed by China Energy Group Guohua Investment (Hydrogen Energy Company), Ningxia Coal Industry, and Ningxia Electric Power Company. The project mainly includes the engineering design services for the installation of hybrid hydrogen production modules, specifically involving the design of multiple hydrogen production modules and auxiliary systems. The hybrid hydrogen production module area includes key equipment such as ALK electrolyzer skids, PEM electrolyzers and gas-liquid separation skids, comprehensive purification skids, as well as the corresponding power supply components and auxiliary systems.

II. Hydrogen Production Technology and Scale

The project adopts advanced hybrid hydrogen production technology, which combines alkaline water electrolysis (ALK) and proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEM) to achieve efficient and stable hydrogen production. The hydrogen production scale is five megawatts, with an annual hydrogen output reaching a certain scale (e.g., the Qingshuiying Hydrogen Production Plant has an annual output of 3,080 mt as part of the demonstration zone, though the scale may vary, the overall project scale is significant). The produced hydrogen, after purification, can reach high-purity standards to meet the needs of fields such as coal chemical industry and transportation.

III. Project Progress and Achievements

The Guoneng Ningdong Hybrid Hydrogen Production Project has made remarkable progress. Among them, the Qingshuiying Hydrogen Production Station, as the first phase of the demonstration zone, has completed key construction stages and successfully achieved intermediate handover. This hydrogen production station utilizes 120,000 kW of PV power supply and produces hydrogen through the PV alkaline water electrolysis process, with a commissioned hydrogen production scale of 15,000 standard cubic meters per hour. As the project progresses, it is expected to achieve a larger hydrogen production scale and greater environmental protection benefits.
