Beijing (Gasgoo)- On February 25, Tesla China officially announced the phased rollout of its 2024.45.32.12 software update, which includes enhancements to urban Autopilot, updates to the cabin camera system, and a new map package version (CN-2025.8-15218).

The urban Autopilot update optimizes Tesla's existing Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) feature, allowing vehicles to operate with Autopilot on controlled-access roads and urban streets. The system can guide the vehicle through exits and intersections according to navigation routes, recognizing traffic signals to execute actions such as going straight, turning left or right, and making U-turns. Additionally, the system can change lanes based on speed and route. Without a set navigation route, the vehicle selects the optimal path based on road conditions.

The cabin camera, located above the rearview mirror, now assesses driver attention levels. If the driver appears distracted while using driver assistance features, the system will issue alerts to encourage focus on the road. Tesla emphasizes that video processing occurs within the vehicle and is inaccessible to anyone, including the company itself.

Tesla China noted that feature availability and performance may vary by model and configuration. The updated Autopilot functionality has been introduced on select models and will gradually expand. While recent reports suggested Tesla was preparing to offer Full Self-Driving (FSD)-like features in China, this update remains an enhancement to Autopilot rather than a full FSD rollout.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
