Recently, Nantong Development Zone and Shanghai Shenergy Energy Innovation Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shenergy Group, officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement. This marks the beginning of their joint efforts to establish a core hub for the Yangtze River Delta Hydrogen Energy Corridor centered in the Nantong Development Zone, aiming to transform Nantong into a national hydrogen energy demonstration city.

At the signing ceremony, Bao Delin, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Nantong Development Zone, provided a detailed overview of the current development and future plans for the hydrogen energy industry in Nantong and the development zone. He emphasized that the development zone is expected to fully leverage Shenergy Group's technological and project development capabilities, combined with the talent, financial, and other resource advantages brought by the Yangtze River Delta integration, to create a "zero-carbon" park and further advance the construction of the green hydrogen energy corridor.

Shenergy Group, a wholly state-owned enterprise under the supervision of the Shanghai State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, has grown since its establishment in 1987 into a comprehensive energy enterprise group with businesses spanning electricity, natural gas, finance, cables, hydrogen energy, and environmental protection. Currently, Shenergy Group owns or controls over 300 subsidiaries, employs nearly 20,000 people, and has been listed among China's Top 500 Enterprises for 22 consecutive years. In the hydrogen energy sector, Shenergy Group is a pioneer in China, actively deploying its hydrogen energy industry chain around the "three verticals and three horizontals" strategy, promoting the commercialization of technological achievements and creating a closed-loop hydrogen energy application system.

In recent years, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Shanghai Shenergy Energy Innovation Development Co., Ltd., Shenergy Group has invested in or acquired companies such as Zhejiang Laneng, Hydrogen Morning Technology, Re-Fire Technology, and Kunhua Technology, focusing on three major product areas: hydrogen production, storage and transportation equipment, and fuel cells. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Shenergy Group is committed to addressing key links in hydrogen energy development, advancing the industrialisation of the hydrogen energy sector from its introductory phase, and contributing to the national strategic goals of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality."

As a member of the Shanghai Hydrogen Energy City Demonstration Cluster, Nantong Development Zone boasts significant advantages in geographical location, transportation convenience, investment environment, and upstream industry chain support. Shenergy Group highly recognizes the investment environment and development prospects of the Nantong Development Zone. Both parties have agreed to establish a strategic partnership to jointly promote hydrogen energy technology innovation, industrialisation, and demonstration applications.

According to the agreement, the two parties will use the oil-hydrogen integrated energy station project as a foundation to advance the layout of hydrogen energy infrastructure in the Nantong Development Zone and establish an oil-hydrogen refueling integrated technology center. Additionally, with the support of Nantong City, the two parties will jointly develop distributed PV, onshore wind turbines, offshore wind power, and other supporting facilities, promoting the implementation of green electricity-to-hydrogen projects and building a zero-carbon green hydrogen energy integrated demonstration project in the development zone. These initiatives are expected to strongly support Nantong's transformation into a national hydrogen energy demonstration city and provide critical backing for the construction of the Yangtze River Delta Hydrogen Energy Corridor.

Attendees at the signing ceremony included Ye Chuhua, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of Shanghai Shenergy Energy Innovation Development Co., Ltd.; Chen Li, Director of the Hydrogen Energy Office; Wang Kangli, Deputy Party Secretary of the Nantong Development Zone Party Working Committee; and Yang Jie, Director of the Investment Promotion Bureau, among other leaders. This collaboration not only brings mutually beneficial development opportunities for the Nantong Development Zone and Shenergy Group but also injects new momentum into the rapid development of China's hydrogen energy industry.
