Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On February 22, XPENG marked a major milestone in its global strategy with an outbound shipment ceremony at Guangzhou Port's Nansha Auto Terminal. During the event, the first batch of 300 right-hand drive XPENG X9 units officially set sail for Thailand and other Southeast Asian markets. The company aims to implement an efficient delivery model, ensuring swift handovers upon arrival.
XPENG's journey into international markets began in 2020 with the export of 100 XPENG G3 units to Europe. Since then, the company has continuously expanded its global footprint, now operating in over 30 countries and regions with approximately 150 overseas stores. Southeast Asia has emerged as a key focus after Europe, with XPENG accelerating its strategic deployment in the region.
Speaking at the ceremony, XPENG Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng expressed confidence in the X9's potential, stating that the model is poised to become the best-selling high-end all-electric MPV in the Asia-Pacific region by 2025.
As the X9 units rolled onto the Ro-Ro vessel, XPENG's rapid international expansion entered a new phase. The company has outlined three key strategic pillars: market expansion, technological accessibility, and supercharging infrastructure.
By the end of this year, XPENG aims to be present in 60 countries and regions, establish over 300 overseas service centers, and rank among the top three global NEV exporters by 2027. By 2030, it aspires for half of its total sales to come from the markets outside of China.
On the technology front, XPENG plans to launch global adaptations of its "Turing AI Smart Driving" system in 2026, leveraging China's decade of intelligent driving expertise to enhance smart mobility for users worldwide.
In charging infrastructure, the company will begin deploying a superfast charging network in 2025, starting in Southeast Asia and expanding across Asia, Europe, and Australia to create a "broader, faster, and lower-cost" energy replenishment ecosystem.
Mr. He said revealed XPENG will also ramp up its OTA update cycles for global users, with plans to accelerate updates from once every four months to as frequently as every two months in select regions, ensuring a continuously optimized user experience.
