The collaboration aims to support the development of a national new energy vehicle (NEV) brand in Ghana, leveraging Chinese technology to empower Africa's NEV industry and drive its transformation.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On February 22, 2025, at an industry forum themed cross-border professional services for Chinese enterprises going global, U POWER Tech, a Chinese smart electric vehicle technology developer, announced a strategic partnership with African royal enterprise Majesty Group, according to a post on U POWER Tech's WeChat account. The collaboration aims to support the development of a national new energy vehicle (NEV) brand in Ghana, leveraging Chinese technology to empower Africa's NEV industry and drive its transformation.

As part of the agreement, U POWER Tech and Majesty Group secured a sales order for a newly customized Mini-bus model based on the standardized UP Super Board, the mass-produced skateboard chassis developed by U POWER Tech. This marks another successful implementation of the "Powered by U POWER" business model in international markets, highlighting U POWER's rapid expansion in the global electric commercial vehicle sector and further advancing the adoption of skateboard chassis technology worldwide.

Utilizing the standardized UP Super Board, U POWER Tech has developed a fully customized upper body design for the Mini-bus, tailored to meet the efficiency and stability demands of Ghana's passenger transport market. The new vehicle model is designed to provide a high-performance, cost-effective, and eco-friendly transportation solution. In the next phase, the vehicles will be produced efficiently through a localized KD (knock-down) assembly line in Ghana, ensuring swift deliveries while fostering the development of the country’s automotive supply chain and accelerating the growth of its NEV ecosystem.

U POWER Tech stated that, by leveraging China's collaborative global expansion platforms for the NEV industry, it integrates its highly standardized UP Super Board with the support of key Chinese NEV industry players. Under the "Powered by U POWER" business model, the company is not only aiding Ghana's Majesty Group in establishing the national NEV brand COWRY but also advancing local industry transformation through its “GLOCAL—Global for Local” strategy. With the mass production of both complete vehicles and chassis products underway, U POWER Tech is accelerating its global expansion, delivering customized NEV solutions to more international markets.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
