Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On February 20 (Beijing Time), BYD India inked a deal with its Indian partner Olectra Greentech Ltd. ("OGL"), a leading electric bus manufacturer in the country, for an order of 2,000-set electric bus chassis, which involved models such as the K9, C9, and K7.

In addition, OGL expanded a previous order signed in August 2024, adding 50-set more K7 chassis and 275-set more K9 chassis.

BYD stated that this agreement reflects the deep trust between the two companies and underscores its leading position and strong product capabilities in the public transportation sector.

As of January 31, 2025, a total of 2,330 electric buses equipped with BYD's chassis have been operating in 35 cities across India, capturing a 24% local market share in the corresponding segment. Since the first BYD electric buses entered the Indian market in November 2017, they have collectively logged approximately 335.2 million kilometers of operation distance, with the highest mileage on a single vehicle reaching 678,109 kilometers.

Zhang Jie, Deputy General Manager of BYD's Asia-Pacific Automotive Sales Division, highlighted the decade-long partnership between BYD India and OGL. He noted that BYD India's commercial vehicle business has grown significantly over the years, earning strong market and customer recognition for its product quality, technological innovation, and service capabilities. "This latest order marks a new phase in our cooperation. Moving forward, we will continue to provide exceptional product quality and first-class service, further deepening our partnership."

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
