Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On February 19, 2025, Chinese commercial vehicle maker FOTON and electric vehicle charging service provider TELD officially signed an agreement in Beijing, aiming to build a joint venture that focusing on developing and operating new energy heavy-duty truck charging stations, and selling charging piles worldwide.

The new joint venture plans to build 25 charging stations by the end of 2025, covering regions such as Shanxi and Hebei provinces. By expanding the charging network, the company seeks to enhance energy replenishment solutions for new energy vehicle (NEV) customers.

Leveraging FOTON's V2X platform and TELD's charging platform, the joint venture will integrate electrochemical principles, big data models, and AI-driven analytics to process data generated during vehicle charging. This will enable real-time battery diagnostics and vehicle safety reports, supporting aftermarket services and driving technological advancements in new energy commercial vehicles.

Additionally, the partnership will accelerate FOTON's transition to a "Vehicle + Energy Services 2.0" business model, strengthening its market leadership in China's commercial vehicle electrification.

As a leading player in China's commercial vehicle sector, FOTON has been actively promoting the development, production, and sales of new energy commercial vehicles. In 2023, the company launched its "New Energy 30•50 Strategy," focusing on product innovation and business ecosystem transformation. To date, FOTON has established a comprehensive new energy commercial vehicle lineup, covering pure electric, hydrogen fuel cell, and hybrid powertrain solutions.

TELD has been at the forefront of logistics-focused charging networks for heavy-duty trucks. In July 2024, TELD introduced its "High-Quality Ultra-Fast Charging System," marking a major breakthrough in new energy commercial vehicle charging. The system, leveraging power-sharing and intelligent control technologies, boosts charging speed by 60% and power utilization efficiency by 30%, offering faster, more efficient, and cost-effective charging solutions. The logistics charging network also enables power expansion and integration with solar storage, aligning with future megawatt-level heavy-duty truck charging trends while ensuring lower lifecycle costs and smarter, safer, and more efficient ultra-fast charging solutions.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
