[The Restart of Trimet's Three Aluminum Smelters in Germany Progresses Smoothly, Expected to Operate at Full Capacity by the End of 2025] SMM has learned that the restart of Trimet's three aluminum smelters in Germany is progressing steadily. By mid-2025, the Essen plant (annual capacity of 165,000 mt) and the Hamburg plant (annual capacity of 135,000 mt) are expected to resume full production, while the Voerde plant (annual capacity of 95,000 mt) is planned to operate at full capacity in Q4 2025. The three plants had previously suspended 70% of their capacity, totaling 276,000 mt, due to soaring energy costs in 2022. Since the announcement of the restart in April 2024, the process has been progressing smoothly, and the total production of the three plants in 2025 is expected to reach 400,000 mt.
