Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On February 17, Renault Group and Geely Holding Group announced a framework agreement to expand their strategic cooperation in the production and sales of zero and low-emission vehicles through Renault do Brasil.

As part of the agreement, Geely Holding will invest in Renault do Brasil as a minority shareholder, gaining access to localized production, sales, and service resources. The partnership remains subject to the signing of definitive agreements and regulatory approvals.

Under the collaboration, the two advanced production facilities of Renault Group's Ayrton Senna Complex in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná will be utilized to manufacture new vehicles for both Renault and Geely Holding, in addition to Renault's existing lineup.

On the sales front, Renault do Brasil will become the distributor of Geely Holding's portfolio of zero and low-emission vehicles in Brazil. This will allow Geely to leverage Renault's commercial expertise and market presence, accelerating its expansion in Brazil, South America's largest automotive market.

Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group, highlighted the companies' growing collaboration: "Renault Group and Geely have already made significant progress together. We successfully launched a joint venture in Korea and, with Horse, created a global leader in powertrain technology. This strong relationship and trust will now be leveraged in Brazil, helping us consolidate our industrial presence in Paraná and strengthen Renault's position in this key market."

Eric Li, Chairman of Geely Holding Group, emphasized the broader impact of the partnership: "Our cooperation with Renault reflects Geely's commitment to working with global partners to drive sustainable transformation in the automotive industry. From South Korea to global powertrain innovations and now Brazil, our relationship has continued to evolve. By working together, we unlock synergies and efficiencies that create greater value for our customers worldwide."

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
