Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC Group conducted the groundbreaking ceremony of its GAOG Digital New Factory on February 15 at the Industrial Park for Intelligent & Connected New Energy Vehicle in Panyu district, Guangzhou city, according to a press release GAC Group issued via its official website.
The project, with a total investment exceeding 1.2 billion yuan, will be built in two phases.
The first phase, set to start production in January 2026, will achieve an annual capacity of 125,000-unit battery housings, 200,000-unit steel-aluminum subframes, and 130,000-unit body components, serving both GAC Group's self-owned and joint-venture brands.
The second phase will focus on making breakthroughs in R&D of modular integrated die-casting technologies, with plans to establish production lines for 100,000-unit front cabin and rear floor die-cast parts by October 2026. This initiative aims to fill the technological gap at GAC Group, providing lightweight solutions for vehicle models from its self-owned brands, including Trumpchi and AION.
Mr. Feng Xingya, General Manager of GAC Group, remarked, "The investment in the GAOG Digital New Factory, in collaboration with multiple partners, aims to advance intelligent manufacturing of key components like battery housings and body parts. Based on this move, the factory will focus on the R&D and industrialization of modular integrated die-casting processes. The facility aims to explore modular assembly techniques to incorporate world-leading flexible production lines, AI-powered quality inspection systems, and digital twin technologies. With these efforts, we aim to establish the factory as a hub for component technology innovation and set a benchmark for intelligent manufacturing, providing strong support for the intelligent and lightweight development of new energy vehicles."
Established in 2009, Guangzhou GAOG Molding and Stamping Co., Ltd. has built a production network spanning Guangzhou, Changsha, and Yichang cities, with a branch in Thailand.
