XPENG has officially entered the UK market, marking a significant milestone in its global expansion, according to a press release it issued on Feb. 12.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- XPENG has officially entered the UK market, marking a significant milestone in its global expansion, according to a press release it issued on Feb. 12.  The company has launched in the country the pre-sales for its first right-hand-drive model, the all-electric XPENG G6 smart coupe SUV, with prices starting at £39,990. Deliveries are set to begin in March 2025.

The UK plays a pivotal role in XPENG's global expansion strategy, as it is not only Europe's largest electric vehicle market in 2024 but also one of the most important right-hand-drive markets globally.

XPENG said it has partnered with IML, an official distributor with nearly 50 years of automotive sales experience and extensive market expertise, for its UK operations. Together, the duo plans to establish 20 dealerships in the UK by 2025, strengthening the brand's local presence and customer support network.

Since entering the European market in 2021 via Norway, XPENG has expanded its footprint to Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, and Ireland. The UK is now the latest addition, with further expansion planned.

Founded in 2014, XPENG has delivered over 620,000 smart electric vehicles worldwide. In January 2025, the company announced strategic partnerships with Volkswagen and BP Pulse to develop ultra-fast charging networks and explore cutting-edge mobility solutions. These collaborations underscore XPENG's technological advancements and global ambitions in redefining the smart electric vehicle experience.

By the end of 2025, XPENG aims to expand its presence to over 60 countries and regions.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
