On February 11, SAIC General Motors (SAIC-GM), the joint venture between SAIC Motor and General Motors, announced the deep integration of the DeepSeek-R1 reasoning AI model into its smart cockpits.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On February 11, SAIC General Motors (SAIC-GM), the joint venture between SAIC Motor and General Motors, announced the deep integration of the DeepSeek-R1 reasoning AI model into its smart cockpits.

The company revealed that new vehicle models under the Cadillac and Buick brands will soon feature this technology.

SAIC-GM said that it has established an "integrated edge-cloud AI model hub" that supports the integration of multiple advanced AI models. This AI hub enables the collaborative evolution of dual AI models, combining DeepSeek's complex reasoning capabilities with the creative generation abilities of ERNIE Bot. This deep integration enhances the hub's ability to understand complex user commands and offers interactive features such as content retrieval and generative content creation, improving the user interaction experience.

SAIC-GM claimed that its smart cockpits are set to transcend traditional boundaries of perception, reasoning, thinking, and interaction. With the support of the AI model hub, the vehicles are evolving from mere "transportation tools" into "sentient AI entities."

Currently, multiple automobile brands, including Geely, ZEEKR, Dongfeng Motor, VOYAH, GAC Group, Baojun, IM Motors, Changan, and Leapmotor, have announced deep integration with the DeepSeek AI model. For instance, on February 10, IM Motors announced the in-depth integration of the DeepSeek AI large model into its smart cockpit system. On February 8, Dongfeng Motor announced that it has fully integrated DeepSeek's large language models into the entire passenger vehicle lineup under its wholly-owned brands.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
