Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On February 11, Chinese electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) developer AutoFlight announced a procurement order from Wuhan Hanyang Investment Development Group for 12 large eVTOL aircraft, valued at 157 million yuan, with the prepayment already completed.

Under the collaboration, the duo aims to conduct pilot projects for specialized low-altitude and passenger-carrying transport scenarios, so as to accelerate the adoption of large eVTOL aircraft technology.

Both parties plan to establish a final assembly base and sales center for central China, which supports aircraft assembly, testing, flight trials, sales, deliveries, and exhibitions.

Hanyang district, a central urban area of Wuhan city, plans to establish an "All-scenario Low-altitude Demonstration Center" to develop unmanned applications in regional logistics, aerial emergency response, and firefighting. The initiative is set to pilot passenger-carrying transport operations, leveraging the approved aerial travel route along the Yangtze River's north bank to expand "low-altitude + cultural tourism" initiatives and advance urban air mobility in the district.

Founded in 2017, AutoFlight is one of China's earliest technology companies to enter the eVTOL aircraft sector. Its self-developed eVTOL aircraft have been deployed in island logistics, medical sample transport, and commercial freight operations.

Additionally, AutoFlight's V2000EM PROSPERITY, a five-seat and mid-to-long-range eVTOL aircraft, is currently undergoing airworthiness certification and is expected to be put into commercial operation in 2026.

The fresh procurement order includes cargo aircraft, emergency firefighting aircraft, and five-seat passenger-carrying aircraft.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
