Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese automaker Jiangling Motors Co., Ltd. (JMC) released on February 6 its monthly sales performance for the first month of 2025. In January, the automaker sold 21,359 vehicles in total, edging up 2.2% year-on-year.

Breaking down the performance by vehicle types, JMC sold 5,088 light-duty coaches last month, indicating a 23.65% jump from the previous year. The automaker reported a slight year-on-year rise of 5.07% in Jan. truck sales, which stood at 3,586 units. At the same time, JMC saw its pickup truck monthly sales tumble 32.75% from the year-ago period to 3,857 units. The company also sold 8,828 SUVs in the month, representing a 15.61% year-on-year increase.

For the whole year of 2024, JMC sold 341,208 vehicles, posting a year-on-year rise of 10.06%. The automaker achieved a total revenue of 38.374 billion yuan in 2024, marking a 15.7% year-on-year jump. Its net profit attributable to shareholders reached 1.537 billion yuan, edging up 4.2% from the previous year.

JMC is also advancing its R&D in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector. In December 2024, JMC held a technology day event, where it recognized the ongoing "Yichi 05 Project."

This project is an upgrade and modification of an existing model platform, featuring a new powertrain architecture and body design. It incorporates a mainstream six-in-one powertrain, delivering more than a 20% increase in power and notable improvements in acceleration performance with gains measured in seconds. Meanwhile, the Yichi 05 Personal Version comes standard with a Level 2.0 intelligent driver assistance across the entire lineup. The interior has also been enhanced with features like wireless charging, a column-mounted gear shifter, and automotive wireless charging. The automaker said this model is set to enter production in June this year.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
