According to Webstock Inc., citing foreign media on February 7, data released by the Chilean Copper Commission (Cochilco) on Friday showed that in 2024, copper production in Chile, the world's largest copper-producing country, increased by 4.9% to 5.5 million mt.
The commission's data also indicated that copper production by Codelco in December rose by nearly 22% to 172,700 mt.
Copper production at the world's largest copper mine, Escondida, operated by BHP, increased by 51% in December to 133,600 mt, while production at the large Collahuasi copper mine, jointly operated by Glencore and Anglo American, fell by 32% to 41,200 mt.
