In early December, Huawei signed a supply agreement for the 4.5GWh battery storage system of the MTerra Solar project with Terra Solar Philippines Inc. (TSPI). The project, considered the world's largest solar-storage project, will install 3.5GW of solar photovoltaic capacity and a 4.5GWh battery storage system. The project has commenced in November 2024. Huawei will equip the project with an energy storage container battery system and auxiliary components, a battery management system, a power conversion system, and an energy management system.
As competition intensifies within China’s energy storage industry, an increasing number of companies are turning to overseas markets for growth opportunities. Companies like Canadian Solar, HiBOSS, REPT Battero, Hithium Energy Storage, and CORNEX New Energy have made notable progress in international markets. Industry experts have pointed that Chinese companies must avoid applying the domestic price competition model to international markets.
Additionally, significant differences in regulations and standards across countries require Chinese companies to adapt their production and operational strategies to meet local market demands. The long-term operational and maintenance costs in overseas markets also pose a significant challenge for Chinese firms.
