Beijing (Gasgoo)- On February 6, 2025, autonomous driving tech company WeRide officially launched its next-generation unmanned delivery vehicle, the Robovan W5 (referred to as W5). Equipped with WeRide's self-developed Level 4 (L4) autonomous driving technology, the W5 is designed to address key challenges in the logistics industry.

It offers long-range capabilities, high load capacity, and an all-in-one solution combining on-vehicle, cloud, and operational deployment, targeting areas such as express delivery, urban distribution, and point-to-point logistics.

The W5 is tailored for urban open-road environments and inherits WeRide's nearly 1,900 days and 40 million kilometers of operational experience in the Robotaxi sector. The vehicle is equipped with a redundant sensor suite that enables precise detection of vehicles, traffic lights, pedestrians, and other road users, ensuring 360-degree perception with no blind spots under all conditions. This makes the W5 a reliable solution for fully autonomous deliveries across various logistical scenarios.

With a cargo capacity of 5.5m³ and a maximum payload of 1,000kg, the W5 offers the largest cargo space in its category, said WeRide. It boasts a range of 220 kilometers, making it well-suited to handle high-frequency, rapid deliveries, as well as long-distance, large-scale transport needs in urban and point-to-point logistics.

Additionally, the W5 supports cloud-based intelligent scheduling and management, allowing real-time monitoring of vehicle status, optimized task distribution, and data analysis to continuously improve operational efficiency. The vehicle is designed for quick deployment, with remote OTA upgrades to reduce customer deployment and maintenance costs.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
