Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD recently introduced its compact SUV, the BYD ATTO 2 (named BYD Yuan UP in China), in Europe—offering an excellent smart urban electric vehicle option for local consumers seeking both comfort and agility, according to a press release BYD issued on February 6.

BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li stated, "We are delighted to launch this important model in Europe at the beginning of 2025. The B-SUV segment is critical here, and the ATTO 2 is poised to attract a vast pool of potential customers. This model combines BYD's advantages in battery technology and vehicle architecture, and its compact design is ideally suited for urban SUV needs."

In terms of performance, the ATTO 2 is powered by a front-mounted electric motor delivering 130 kW and 290 N·m of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds, reaches a top speed of 160 km/h, offers a WLTP range of 312 km, and achieves an urban range of 463 km.

Designed with practicality in mind, the ATTO 2 fuses traditional SUV styling with a compact footprint. The vehicle measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a notably long wheelbase of 2,620 mm that provides a spacious interior compared to many rivals. Its front end is accentuated by integrated full LED headlights and slender daytime running lights, enhanced by a bright grille trim that delivers a striking visual impact.

The ATTO 2 features four driving modes—Economy, Standard, Sport, and Snow—each tailored to optimize efficiency, everyday driving, throttle response, and low-traction safety respectively. The rear cabin offers generous legroom and headroom, making it ideal for family use. Notably, all variants come standard with a panoramic glass roof and an electrically adjustable sunshade, helping to maintain a comfortable interior temperature in hot weather.

After its initial launch in select markets earlier this year, the ATTO 2 will be rolled out across Europe gradually. To date, BYD has introduced nine models in Europe, spanning both battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
