Beijing (Gasgoo)- On Feb. 2, Chinese automaker Chery Holding released its first monthly sales report for 2025, revealing that the company sold a total of 224,323 vehicles in January, which jumped 10.3% year on year. This marks the sixth consecutive month that Chery has surpassed 200,000 units in monthly sales.

Among the total, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. (Chery Automobile) sold 221,834 vehicles, indicating an 11% increase from a year ago. Meanwhile, the group's new energy vehicle sales reached 56,901 units in the past month, soaring 172.1% year over year.

Despite fewer working days in January due to the earlier Chinese New Year holiday, Chery outperformed the broader market. The China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) had had previously forecasted that China's passenger vehicle sales would be around 1.75 million units in January, which marks a 14.6% decline year-on-year.

In this challenging industry environment, Chery Holding's five major passenger car brands still maintained solid growth. Specifically, the Chery brand sold 129,553 vehicles in January. The EXEED brand sold 5,804 vehicles. The JETOUR brand sold 58,162 vehicles. The iCAR new energy vehicle brand sold 7,853 units. Additionally, the LUXEED brand, which is backed with Huawei's technology, sold 13,000 vehicles in the same month.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
