Beijing (Gasgoo)- In January 2025, Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker Leapmotor delivered 25,170 vehicles, representing a 105% year-on-year surge, according to the company's announcement on Feb. 1.

On January 13, Leapmotor released a profit forecast, announcing it had turned a net profit in the fourth quarter of 2024 — achieving single-quarter profitability one year ahead of its original target. This milestone makes it the second Chinese NEV startup to reach profitability.

In the overseas market, Leapmotor made its appearance at the 101st Brussels Motor Show on January 10, where it showcased and began pre-orders for the extended-range electric vehicle (REEV) version of the C10. European deliveries of the C10 REEV will start in March 2025. On the other hand, the T03 compact electric vehicle, which hit the European market in September 2024, continues to gain popularity, with global sales surpassing 200,000 units so far.

On January 6, Leapmotor introduced the C16 580 Long-Range Edition, featuring a 74.9 kWh battery pack and a CLTC range of up to 580 km. Priced from 172,800 yuan, the model aims to strengthen the brand's competitiveness in the NEV market.

Additionally, Leapmotor conducted extreme winter testing for its upcoming B10 model in Heihe, where temperatures dropped to -20 ℃ to -30 ℃. The tests evaluated battery performance, powertrain stability, and safety on icy roads. The B10 is scheduled for market release in the first quarter of 2025.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
