Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On January 26, Chinese new energy vehicle manufacturer NETA Auto announced that its first stores in Brazil and Cambodia had opened for business, marking significant milestones in its global expansion strategy.

NETA Auto began laying the groundwork for its entry into the Brazilian market in May 2024, when it initiated a countdown for its official vehicle model launch. By July 20, the company had established its first South American subsidiary in São Paulo's Paulista Avenue, signaling its formal debut in the region.

In September last year, NETA Auto secured financial support of 1 billion Brazilian reals (approximately 1.2257 billion RMB) through a strategic partnership with BTG Pactual and the importer Sertrading. The funding supports vehicle imports and charging infrastructure development in Brazil.

Beyond Brazil and Cambodia, NETA Auto's international footprint now spans South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Hyundai Motor Announces Q2 Sales Results
Hyundai Motor’s global sales in the second quarter reached 991,885 units, down 6.9% from a year earlier. Domestic sales fell 16.4% to 157,647 units due to supply disruptions caused by a fire at a parts supplier. Overseas sales also declined 4.9% to 834,238 units amid slowing global auto demand. In the U.S., Hyundai Motor sold 264,587 units, up 0.9% year-on-year. Hybrid sales reached 187,661 units in the second quarter, marking a record quarterly high, while EV sales stood at 69,366 units. Combined sales of electrified vehicles, including hybrids and EVs, rose 1.7% to 266,627 units.

Korea’s domestic NEV sales rose 22.1% month on month to 93,722 units in June, while combined BEV, HEV and PHEV exports increased 23.3% to 102,551 units. HEVs accounted for about 78% of incremental growth in both markets. BEV volumes also posted double-digit gains, but their share declined as HEVs expanded faster, highlighting a gap between overall vehicle-market recovery and the pace of BEV-led electrification.
