Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On January 22, local time in Jakarta, BYD's premium DENZA officially entered the Indonesian market, along with the launch of its flagship model, the DENZA D9. The model starts at 950 million Indonesian Rupiah (approximately RMB 424,000) for the local market.

To enhance customer experience, DENZA announced a comprehensive benefits package, including a 6-year or 150,000-kilometer vehicle warranty, 6 years of unlimited-mileage free regular maintenance, and additional perks.

"Today marks a groundbreaking moment for DENZA, BYD's premium brand, as it debuts in the Indonesian market with its flagship D9 model, opening a new chapter for luxury mobility in the country. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and sustainable innovation, DENZA aims to redefine the luxury driving experience and offer Indonesian consumers unprecedented travel options," said Liu Xueliang, General Manager of BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division.

DENZA, co-founded by BYD and Mercedes-Benz in 2010, became the former's wholly-owned brand in 2024. Since the launch of its first model in 2014, DENZA's lineup has expanded to include SUVs, MPVs, and sedans. Its operations now span markets including Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong.

In 2024, DENZA achieved cumulative annual sales of 126,035 units, with monthly sales hitting a record high of over 15,000 units in December.

The DENZA D9, which debuted in China in August 2022, entered the Indonesian market following the market release of its 2025 model in December last year. The new lineup includes eight variants of the DM-i (namely, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, PHEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions, priced between 339,800 yuan and 469,800 yuan.

The PHEV version features BYD's fifth-generation DM technology, including a 1.5Ti ultra-high-efficiency engine with a thermal efficiency of 45.3% and the EHS200 hybrid system, offering a combined range of 1,100 km, a 200 km CLTC-rated range on battery power alone, and a fuel consumption of just 5.85 liters per 100 km when running on gasoline alone.

The BEV version is built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 and is equipped with a 103 kWh Blade Battery, which delivers a range of up to 620 km.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
