SMM, January 24:
As the Chinese New Year holiday approaches, low-grade zinc oxide and zinc calcine enterprises are planning their holiday arrangements. According to SMM's communication, this involves 10 low-grade zinc oxide enterprises with a total capacity of 308,000 mt, and the average holiday duration is around 25 days. Some low-grade zinc oxide enterprises will not suspend operations due to the high cost of shutting down kilns, while most take the opportunity during the Chinese New Year for routine maintenance and to stockpile raw materials to ensure post-holiday operating rates. This also involves 8 zinc calcine enterprises with a total capacity of 257,000 mt, and the average holiday duration is around 19 days. Most enterprises will conduct production line maintenance during the holiday. Overall, enterprises are expected to resume operations around mid-February. SMM will continue to monitor the operating status of low-grade zinc oxide and zinc calcine enterprises.
