Beijing (Gasgoo)- On January 21, autonomous driving company iMotion and smart computing solution provider Horizon Robotics officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement for R&D of automotive intelligence technologies and products, according to iMotion's announcement.

The partnership aims to provide automakers with high-quality, innovative smart driving solutions, expand their presence in Chinese and overseas markets, and contribute to the sustainable development of the intelligent driving ecosystem.

The two companies are advancing mass production projects based on Horizon Robotics' latest Journey 6 series computing platform. iMotion has successfully deployed advanced algorithm models on the Journey 6 platform and is partnering with Horizon Robotics and Continental's joint venture, Horizon Continental Technology Shanghai Co., Ltd., to develop lightweight urban smart driving solutions.

By the second half of 2025, iMotion's advanced driving domain controllers, built on the Journey 6 series, will be mass-produced in two flagship vehicle models from a leading Chinese automaker and introduced to global markets.

The Journey 6 series is a next-generation computing solution designed to meet the demands of scalable intelligent driving applications. The platform has secured contracts from over 20 automakers and brands. The Journey 6 will support more than 100 vehicle models with advanced smart driving functions, which are expected to hit the market starting 2025. Horizon Robotics projects that the annual shipment volume of the Journey 6 series will surpass one million units by the end of 2025.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
