BYD announces foray into Salvadoran passenger vehicle market

BYD recently held a brand launch event in El Salvador, marking its official entry into the country's passenger car market, according to a press release BYD issued on Jan. 21 via its WeChat account.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD recently held a brand launch event in El Salvador, marking its official entry into the country's passenger car market, according to a press release BYD issued on Jan. 21 via its WeChat account.

The first BYD dealership in the region opened for business on the same day, showcasing several models, including the BYD DOLPHIN, BYD YUAN PRO, BYD SEAL, BYD SONG PRO DM-i, and BYD SONG PLUS DM-i.

Audrey Li, Vice President of BYD America and Regional Managing Director of BYD Latin America, stated, "Today, alongside Energy Motors, we are opening a new chapter for BYD in El Salvador's electric vehicle market. In 2024, BYD achieved a historic milestone by rolling out its 10 millionth new energy vehicle, becoming the first automaker in the world to reach this landmark. We are confident that, through close collaboration with local dealers, this promising market will accelerate its transition to electrification, contributing to our vision of 'Cooling the Earth by 1°C.'"

Ricardo Mora, General Manager of Energy Motors, BYD's official distributor in El Salvador, added, "We are delighted to represent the BYD brand. We warmly invite everyone to visit our new BYD showroom and experience firsthand BYD's innovative technologies and diverse product lineup. At the same time, we are committed to offering exceptional personalized consulting and customer service to address all questions about new energy vehicles for local consumers."

According to BYD's latest sales results, the company recorded an annual sales volume of 417,204 vehicles for its overseas business in 2024, representing a year-on-year surge of 71.9%.
