Beijing (Gasgoo)- Masdar, a global leader in renewable energy and sustainable urban development, has selected Chinese battery giant CATL as the battery storage system supplier for its UAE Round-the-Clock (RTC) project, according to CATL’s WeChat post on Jan. 19.
The RTC project, the world's largest integrated solar and battery storage initiative to date, comprises a 19GWh battery storage system and a 5.2GW photovoltaic array with an investment exceeding $6 billion. Upon completion, it will be the first large-scale, 24/7 clean energy power generation project globally, providing 1GW of uninterrupted renewable energy and setting a new global benchmark for green energy development.
As a leading supplier of energy storage solutions, CATL will provide its cutting-edge TENER energy storage system to the project. The system offers high safety, long lifespan, and robust integration, with enhanced protection and energy performance to withstand extreme weather and challenging environments. Additionally, CATL's latest integrated liquid cooling technology further improves safety, reliability, and ease of installation.
Since its founding in 2006, Masdar has been instrumental in positioning the UAE as a global leader in sustainability. Operating in over 40 countries, Masdar aims to increase its total renewable energy capacity to 100GW and become a leader in green hydrogen in 2030. This collaboration with CATL underscores its commitment to advancing clean energy innovation worldwide.
