Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On Jan. 19, SAIC Motor and Beijing Institute of Technology ("BIT") signed a strategic cooperation agreement to advance innovation in electrification, intelligence, and automation, according to a post on SAIC Motor's WeChat account.

By leveraging SAIC Motor's expertise in vehicle development and manufacturing and BIT's strengths in technology research, talent cultivation, and academic disciplines, the partnership aims to create a comprehensive, multi-faceted, and deeply integrated university-industry collaboration framework.

Under the agreement, the two parties will collaborate on cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), AI large models, intelligent chassis, smart connectivity, human-machine interaction design, automotive software in-house development, and vehicle fiber-optic bus networks. The partnership will focus on joint innovation, tackling key technological challenges, and fostering deep integration between academic research and industrial applications to accelerate technology advancements and industry transformation.

The two sides plan to establish a joint laboratory for vehicle intelligence development and engineering applications, attracting top-tier talent both domestically and internationally. The laboratory will also foster interdisciplinary exchanges, share experimental equipment and intellectual resources, and facilitate the utilization of innovative results. Additionally, it will serve as a hub for academic collaboration and engineering application development.

Both parties will build on their respective strengths in academia and automotive industry expertise to deliver high-impact talent cultivation programs. These efforts include professional education and training initiatives, a talent exchange mechanism for high-level researchers, and reciprocal support for student development, internships, and professional training. Together, they aim to nurture exceptional engineers and develop top-tier talents with a global perspective.
