Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On January 13, the pilot operation of the automated valet parking service, alongside a technical seminar on the large-scale application of autonomous parking, organized by Huawei and Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning Center (SUTPC), was officially launched at Shenzhen Baoan International Airport.

The new move marks the world's first commercial pilot operation of Huawei's Valet Parking Driver (VPD) function at an airport, aiming to enhance efficiency of parking and vehicle-finding through intelligent driving technologies, offering passengers a convenient and smart travel experience.

As a major transportion hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Shenzhen Airport achieved annual throughput of over 60 million passengers in 2024, with each parking lot accommodating an average of 7,000 vehicles daily. Based on this condition, the airport introduced Huawei's Qiankun ADS 3.0 intelligent driving solution which features the VPD function. This feature enables vehicles to automatically navigate to designated parking spaces or cruise to pick-up zones without a driver. In addition, drivers can monitor the vehicle's real-time information such as the surrounding environment, location, and status via a mobile app.

Upon arriving at the airport's drop-off zone, passengers can use their mobile app to select a parking spot and proceed to the departure hall directly. With the VPD system, the vehicle will navigate and park at the designated space. In addition, it can automatically avoid other cars and pedestrians, and if the chosen spot is occupied, it will search for another available space, improving parking efficiency for passengers.

Upon return, travelers can summon their vehicle to exit the parking space and cruise to the pick-up area by just tapping on a mobile app.

Huawei, together with SUTPC and other partners, has launched the first automated valet parking scenario at Shenzhen Airport, marking the first commercial application of vehicle-road-cloud integration. Huawei said it plans to expand the VPD system to other scenarios, including high-speed train stations, residential communities, office buildings, and shopping malls.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
