Launched in April 2024, HSD has achieved nationwide adaptability and is set for installation onto its first mass-produced collaborative vehicle model by the third quarter of 2025.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On January 13, Horizon Robotics, a leading provider of smart driving solutions for passenger vehicles, hosted a grand media communication event themed "Beyond the Horizon" in Shanghai, showcasing its achievements in mass production through integrated hardware and software solutions while looking ahead to the breakthrough year for advanced smart driving in 2025.

At the event, Dr. Yu Kai, Founder and CEO of Horizon Robotics, reflected on the company's founding mission and vision. He said: "We applied machine learning and neural networks to smart driving with the ultimate goal to free people from monotonous and repetitive tasks. Technology's ultimate value lies in empowering humanity. Horizon Robotics' mission is to make human life safer and better. Let us take over driving, so you can dominate your life.”

Dr. Yu also shared pivotal moments from Horizon Robotics' nine-year journey, highlighting its successful IPO in Hong Kong in 2024 as a milestone. Looking ahead, he revealed: "In 2025, Horizon Robotics' smart driving solutions will surpass the 10-million-set mark in cumulative shipment volume, leading the adoption of smart driving technologies in China and fostering the ecosystem's growth by 'taking root deeply.' Meanwhile, our SuperDrive full-scenario advanced smart driving solution will be installed onto complete vehicles this year.”

Dr. Yu emphasized three essential factors for the widespread adoption of autonomous driving technology: advanced algorithms, sufficient computing power, and massive data. Fortunately, the industry has now attained all three.

With the rise of large models and deep learning, Dr. Yu envisions that, within three years, autonomous driving will evolve from being usable to enjoyable and eventually indispensable.

Recently, Horizon Robotics hosted a SuperDrive smart driving experience event in Shanghai, showcasing its Horizon SuperDrive™ (HSD) full-scenario smart driving solution. Launched in April 2024, HSD has achieved nationwide adaptability and is set for installation onto its first mass-produced collaborative vehicle model by the third quarter of 2025.

According to Horizon Robotics, HSD excels in handling complex traffic scenarios and introduces three groundbreaking smart driving technologies for a human-like, efficient, comfortable driving experience:

(1) Urban NOA (navigate on autopilot) with reverse maneuvering: U-turns on narrow urban streets are a challenging scenario for current intelligent systems. HSD debuts China's first urban NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) solution with integrated reverse maneuvering, enabling precise "three-point," "five-point," and even "N-point" U-turns without manual intervention. This allows vehicles to navigate narrow streets and even dead-end alleys, expanding the scope of smart driving to cover all scenarios seamlessly.

(2) Roaming mode: HSD introduces China's first roaming mode for urban NOA, enabling vehicles to navigate enclosed areas like parking zones without GPS or active navigation. In urban settings, the system allows for autonomous city roaming without a preset destination, providing users with the opportunity to explore unfamiliar streets. Combined with automated parking features, the system is set to achieve true point-to-point autonomous driving in the future.

(3) Congestion avoidance: Leveraging cross-domain integration, HSD debuts China's first urban NOA with autonomous congestion avoidance ability. By analyzing navigation data, the system intelligently plans routes to help users avoid traffic, much like an experienced human driver, significantly improving travel efficiency.

Over its nine-year history, Horizon Robotics has developed a comprehensive product portfolio of hardware and software solutions, achieving large-scale mass-production capabilities. The company has partnered with over 40 global automakers and brands, enabling smart driving across more than 300 vehicle models, and providing smart driving services to over 5 million Chinese drivers.

Its latest Journey 6 series has secured product adoption from over 20 automakers and is set to power advanced smart driving features in more than 100 vehicle models starting in 2025.
