On January 8, Chinese power battery supplier SVOLT announced that the company’s one-millionth battery pack has officially rolled off the production line at its Chengdu factory.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On January 8, Chinese power battery supplier SVOLT announced that the company's one-millionth-set battery pack has officially rolled off the production line at its Chengdu factory.

In 2024, SVOLT delivered over 270,000-set Short Blade batteries, with shipments of its thermal-composite Short Blade batteries exceeding 50,000 sets in December alone, setting a new monthly record. These achievements have propelled SVOLT's battery installations to rank among China's top five over the past two months.

The rollout of SVOLT's 1 millionth battery pack signifies the sustained growth in its battery installations. In the fourth quarter of 2024, SVOLT had secured battery orders for 220,000 complete vehicles, representing an 83% quarter-over-quarter soar. In October and November 2024, SVOLT maintained its position among China’s top five players by power battery installation volumes. For the first eleven months of last year, SVOLT delivered batteries for 116,097 vehicles to overseas markets, amounting to a total capacity of 5.8 GWh, with exports accounting for 27% of its shipments.

This achievement also highlights SVOLT's strong delivery capabilities, driven by its thermal-composite stacking technology and the deployment of third-generation production lines. SVOLT's in-house developed thermal-composite stacking process can stack eight cells simultaneously, with performance and cost approaching or surpassing traditional winding techniques. The third-generation production line integrates cutting-edge technologies, including laser direct welding and full-process defect detection, offering high integration, simplified workflows, and quality assurance, placing SVOLT at the forefront of the industry.

In the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) market, SVOLT's batteries power vehicle models from such brands as Geely's Galaxy, VOYAH, Haval, TANK, and WEY. In November 2024, SVOLT achieved a PHEV-dedicated battery installation volume of 1.02 GWh. On January 1, 2025, the TANK 500 Hi4-Z, equipped with SVOLT's 59 kWh off-road hybrid battery, hit the market, marking SVOLT's entry into the battery market for off-road vehicles.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
